A Job Whale Done
Normanby Primary School KS1 and KS2 children had a ‘WHALE OF A TIME’ on Tuesday where any FIN was possible! Pencils were almost on fire across school on account of the unbelieve pieces of writing that were produced from a sperm whale finding its way to shore at Redcar! Whether this was real life or whether this was just FIN-tacy, our children engaged with a whole array of resources from Spark Tees Valley to produce range of independent writing inspired by the beaching. Many of the children thoroughly enjoyed the Google Voyage which invited them to ‘DIVE IN’ to a SEA of amazing information on conservation, feeding, species of whale, myths and legends and so much more!
We even appeared on the blog along with all the other schools who had taken part in this Literacy day: https://sparkteesvalley.com/2022/05/23/whale-work/
From green screen reports to creative keynote presentations, our children were completely inspired to write as much as they could about this strange event! Some of our Y5s and Y6s even made it to the beach to view the whale up close and talk to the scientists! What a perfectly ORCA-strated trip! The whole of our school had an absolutely KRILLiant time!
