Carol Barwell

Carol Barwell_b_n_w
I am a Local Authority Governor. I have 2 children in school, Melissa in Y5 and Peter in Y3.

What are your activities and interests?

In between running around after the kids, I manage to fit in being a Business Manager with the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Outside work and kids, I love to read and as the kids will tell you it’s anything from a cereal packet to war and peace. I tend to have 3 books on the go at one time and one will normally be one of theirs. I read David Walliams for the first time at Christmas; he is the new Roald Dahl!

How long have you been on the Governing body?

I have been on the Governing Body since Melissa was in Nursery.

Why did you become a governor?

When Melissa started school it felt like education had changed a lot. I definitely don’t remember it seeming so much fun so I got involved to understand why school did things as they do. It’s a great opportunity to get to know the teachers, staff and Mr Faulkner better and also to see the school as a whole rather than just the part that affects your kids.

Whats your favourite TV program or film and why?

Call the Midwife, Downton Abbey, Mr Selfridge pretty much any Sunday night period drama as I love history.

Whats your favourite savoury/sweet food?

Chinese and chocolate.

Anything else to add?

We are always looking for new governors so if you’re interested in finding out some more please just grab me or one of the other governors on the playground it’s not scary you don’t need to have any special skills you just need to be interested in our school.

Anyone who wishes to speak to me or is interested in finding out more can contact me by email at cbarwell@normanby.rac.sch.uk or through the school office.
