To listen and respond to simple rhymes, stories and songs To perform simple communication tasks using ‘copy me’ strategies To listen to instructions, everyday classroom language and praise	To recognise some familiar words in written form To make links between some phonemes, rhymes and spellings and read aloud familiar words	To learn about different languages (focus on French) To locate country/countries where languages are spoken To identify social conventions at home in other cultures (France)	To have the opportunity to practice conversational skills in role play
