Our School

Our Head Teacher

Normanby Primary is a busy, vibrant school with a unique and challenging curriculum. We really do want all of our children to  ‘Enjoy, Believe, Achieve’… enjoy learning, believe anything is possible and achieve the very best they can!

I am privileged to hold the post of Head Teacher here at Normanby working with a fantastic staff of dedicated people who all want the very best for all our children. From our Nursery to Year 6, our staff work extremely hard to make sure that there are opportunities for all our children to shine. From the ‘standout’ moments of our curriculum carefully chosen to deliver rich and relevant learning opportunities in each year group, to specialist PE and music teaching. We also endeavour to offer a range of extra curricular opportunities to enhance our curriculum.

At Normanby there will be many opportunities for children to make the best possible progress in their learning by building new skills each year and taking part in many special events that enrich our exciting curriculum. Pupil voice is really important to us, and our children are encouraged through the school council to be involved in the running of our school, learn to keep themselves safe and healthy and understand their rights and responsibilities as a member of the wider community.

We want our children to carefully prepared for Secondary School and ready to embrace their future. Lastly, I would like to say, that although many things in the educational landscape change, some things don’t need to change. Together we will continue to provide the same commitment to working with our children, their parents and carers and the governing body of Normanby Primary to continue to make our school the very best our community needs it to be.  We are very pleased with our recent OfSted rating of ‘Good’ in July 2022.

Our CEO

‘Every child and young person should leave our care able to live healthily, enjoying safe, happy and fulfilling lives, free from poverty and with a desire to continue learning, expand their horizons and realise their ambitions and aspirations.’

Normanby Primary was awarded National Support School status in Spring 2014, and became an Academy in June 2014.

Normanby Primary School was last inspected in 2022, and graded as a good school.

The Head Teacher was appointed in January 2023.

The school has a range of qualified staff, with differing levels of experience and a committed and enthusiastic and enquiring Governing Body. The School is sited in an attractive area of Middlesbrough, and is popular with parents and carers. It takes in just less than half its pupils from outside of the catchment area. The most recent Health and Safety Audit again recognised excellent practice. There were no pupil exclusions last year. Attendance for all groups is good.
